It’s that time of year again for Warsaw’s annual Moonlight Magic. The time-honored tradition will take place Thursday, Dec. 7 along the festively-lit downtown Warsaw.

In its beginnings, Moonlight Magic was an event for businesses to offer one-night-only specials and savings, said Brandon Zeches, Greater Warsaw Chamber of Commerce president. However, in recent years the Warsaw chamber has transformed the event to an all-day extravaganza.

In addition to its annual chili cooking contest, there will be a craft show  from noon to 8 p.m. at the WIC office on Main Street, children’s activities from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Moose Club, hay rides from 5 to 6:3o p.m. at Liberty Way on West Buffalo Street, and more. Shake off the chill of the December evening with a fire, s’mores and hot cocoa at Liberty Way as well.

Along with extended shop hours, new this year is a Moonlight corn hole toss with receipt from any Warsaw Chamber business and a Santa selfie contest — check the 2017 Moonlight Magic event page on Facebook for more details.

Other events include:

• All-day events: Warsaw Garden Club Wreaths and Greens sale at Five Start bank and Dashing Thru the Snow race packet pick up at Jacked 24/7;

• 3 to 8 p.m.: Holiday flavors of ice cream at Yummies;

• 4 to 7 p.m.: Moonlight Magic coloring contest at Spotlight Theater, welcome Santa Claus meandering along Main Street, wine tasting at Stellar Spirit & Wines;

• 4:30 to 7 p.m.: Marine Corps Toys for Tots at Warsaw’s Country Courier;

• 5 to 7:30 p.m. paint and take ornament at That Pottery Place, and Girl Scouts make and take ornament at Gemstone Insurance Agency, and Christmas caroling throughout the downtown area.

• 6 p.m.: Story time at the Warsaw Library featuring a reading of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by the Grinch himself, and Black Creek Hard Cider tastings at Rock and Roll Bar-BBQ until 8 p.m.
