You might recognize the face, if not the attire, of the drummer at Backyard Bash Week Six on Aug. 9. That’s because before you knew him as a drummer in Jimmy Buffett wear, you knew him as an officer of the law in his familiar blue uniform.

Rick Daminski made a name for himself during 32 years as a police officer, and for most of those years, his beat was East Aurora where he rose from patrolman to lieutenant and, finally, to detective. He loved his work, being out among the people of East Aurora and the surrounding Town of Aurora, and he developed a reputation as a caring and fair police officer who kept the best interests of all the citizens in mind.
