Resident Views Rebuilding Process in Puerto Rico

There are thousands of moving pieces to rebuild following the aftermath of a hurricane, and some areas return to a state of normal quicker than others. Insurance Adjuster and East Aurora resident Joseph Braunscheidel recently traveled to Puerto Rico to assess damage from Hurricane Maria, and he says the road to recovery will be very long. Over the next few months he will be making his way back there a few more times. Despite the devastation, he said the residents on the island have a positive outlook.

“Everyone I met was patient with the situation, and they recognized when someone had it worse,” Braunscheidel said. “These are people for two months who haven’t turned on lights or had a warm shower. People are very self-reliant and they are figuring things out,”
