Tues., April 2 marked Libby Maeder's last day as assistant editor at the Advertiser. So, as we lose one of our own after nine years, it seems only appropriate to give her a few moments in the Spotlight.
From secretary to mother to columnist, Libby wore a variety of hats before coming to the Advertiser and transforming into its copy editor. A West Seneca native, she graduated with an associate's degree in secretarial studies from Bryant & Stratton Business Institute in 1977. She worked as an administrative secretary at Bry-Lin Hospital for 11 years before meeting her husband-to-be, East Aurora native Erik Maeder, during an Aurora Players production of “The Pirates of Penzance.” (She was helping her friend, the late Monna Rose, do hair and makeup, and he was a pirate). They were married one year later, and they bought their home in Colden soon after that.
